One of the advantages of our machine is that it cleans the cards as they pass through the rollers, providing you with well in excess of 25% more use from your cards. Alas, the dirt has to go somewhere, that being the rubber roller sleeves. The sleeves are made to have a slight texture to them, this grips the cards during dealing, but if the rollers are dirty they become less able to grip, resulting in slower dealing speeds and jams. They are easy to clean with a drop of mild spirit and a lint free cloth.
Residue from the cards can also block the photo-interrupters, especial noticeable with new cards that carry the chalk dust used by the printers. The photo-interrupters act like signals and points of the railway, directing the cards to their correct place. They are light-beams which the cards break as they pass through but if they are dirty the light-beam may not work properly, resulting in the cards being lost, making the machine believe that the card has “jammed” before getting to the beam. A simply dusting with a paintbrush or aerosol spray solves this.
The camera and hopper area can also become very dusty and the solution is very simple, just dust it with a small paintbrush.
Keeping the machine clean is the answer to trouble free dealing, my recommendation is that by using a drop of Gin or Vodka, with a glass for the cleaner, will result in frequent cleaning sessions – have one for me!
